I was recently fired from my job for sending un-related work emails. You know, the funny jokes emails millions of people forward everyday. In my case, because I was a supervisor I was told that I should have known better/funny emails to subordinates/coworkers was inappropriate and against company policy. Although I saw it as boosting moral, I have learned from this and vow to never do it again - ever. My question is, how do I put this on a job application without getting my application tossed in the trash? I have excellent work history and references. I spoke to my previous supervisor (who was crying when upper management let me go) and although he thinks I was an excellent employee - the company policy forbids him from giving any type of references (only HR can do that). I’m applying for a position in the police department so I want to keep my integrity without disqualifying myself from the applicant pool.

I am contacting people in my network, who are in my field to look for a job or job lead, I always send them an email with my resume and kind of jobs I am looking for, but they hardly respond back to me ( i believe everyone is busy), How often is it Okay to send my network a reminder to ask them for help, without sounding desperate ?

I recently applied for a new position. My usual MO is to wait 3 days and call to ensure that my application materials were received, with the underlying goal of introducing myself to the person who is looking to fill the position. However, I received an email stating that my application materials have been received. So how do I follow up?

I know one should always follow up with a thank you note when being interviewed by a prospective employer. However, what if the interview is in a job staffing agency with a job recruiter, do the same rules apply?
Also, if within that agency I was interviewed by several people, do I have to send a thank you note to each? Is it ok to email it instead of sending it by mail?
If a thank you note is required in this type of situation, what would be a good example of such a note?

I spoke to the person on the phone and emailed my resume right after last Monday, he said he would call to schedule an interview. I didnt get a reply or hear back. I called on Thursday to follow up and left a voice mail. I stil have not heard. Should I call again or email again? How many times is appropriate to call without being desperate or a pest? I know he is very busy, so I want to be persistent but not annoying.
